  1. In my work in the Hellenides I attempt to relate the surface plate tectonic events with tomography of the Aegean region. I agree with Hinsbergen et al. (2005) that there are two so-called slabs below that area in the mantle. My timing is quite different and the subductions involved are related to the closure of the northern brance of the Neotethys. One cannot have subduction models without having corresponding surface geology and mantle tomography. As far as my readings are concerned, I gather that tomography is ambiguously vague in the upper 500 km depth. Another point is that following the tomography b3eyond the Aegean area towards India one definitely encounters two slabs (at least) at the depths between about 800 and 2000 kms, although the reconstructions are somewhat ambigous.

La cordillera de los andes inicio su levantamiento hace 220 millones de años por el choque de las placas Nazca y Sudamericana ya existía el Escudo de las Guayanas y del Brasil y el Altiplano, como son contemporáneos se podría hipotetizar que fueron eventos correlacionados la pregunta es Que ocasiono estos levantamientos y subsidencias, que cambio en el medio ambiente y por cuanto tiempo ocurrio para generarlo.
    Hoy con el derretimiento de los casquetes polares por incremento de la temperatura de la tierra tenemos mas agua circulando en la atmosfera que al final llegara al mar, subirá el nivel del mar pero también incrementara el peso de la masa de agua mundial como esta descansa sobre las placas tectónica va a generar una mayor presión una mayor fricción entre las placas por consiguiente se incrementara los movimientos tectónicos y de hecho subsidencias y levantamientos, la pregunta es se repite el pasado y cuantos miles de años nos queda
